Meet our designers

Sweetly works closely with rural women through a design-focused community development approach to create unique handcrafted jewelry designs. Our designers are members of Aadesh Mahela Mandal — a self-help group based in Sajupara village in Dang District comprised of rural women for development and co-operation.

Aadesh Mahela Mandal is small group of women established through the remarkable efforts of Kuntaben Gamit — President of the group. When the Forest department of Dang wanted to give basic training to rural women for their development, she saw a golden opportunity for herself and the people of her village. She took an active interest and convinced others to join the program, working tirelessly to build a coalition of support. It wasn’t easy as there was opposition from some families for women to work. Today, a growing design team continues to flourish in Sajupara.

Sweetly now works with the women of Sajupara to take their skills to next level with design training and regular production.
